Hobson's Choice Harold Brighouse
Director's notes:
"Hobson’s Choice is a true comedy – both funny and sad, and rich in human nature.
Set in Salford in 1890 it tells the story of Horatio Hobson, a hard-headed Salford boot shop proprietor who is much incensed at the “general increase of uppishness” amongst his three daughters. Matters are brought to a head when he tells Maggie (the eldest and the ringleader) that she is past the marrying age. Maggie promptly retaliates by marrying his most talented but timid and downtrodden boot-hand, Will Mossop. Maggie helps Will to develop his potential and together they turn the tables on the domineering Hobson. Mark Waters, Director |
"Will Mossip you're a natural born genius at making boots. It's a pity you're a natural born fool at all else ..."
